The House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure voted last week to advance the Water Resources Development Act of 2022 (WRDA) out of committee, and it now heads to the House floor for a vote. This legislation provides authority for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) to carry out water resources development projects and studies. Passing WRDA is key to preserving our nation’s economy, strengthening U.S. and international commerce, protecting our communities and businesses, and maintaining our quality of life.

Congress officially opened its public process for the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) for 2022. Assistant Secretary of the Army for Public Works Michael Connor and Chief of Engineers Lieutenant General Scott Spellmon with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers appeared before House Transportation & Infrastructure Water Resources Subcommittee and the Senate Environment & Public Works Committee on Wednesday, January 12 to outline Biden Administration priorities for water infrastructure development in the coming year.
