Farm Drainage and LICA
By: Bob Clark II
Drainage and the expansion of a newly formed country are completely intertwined. My in- volvement with LICA’s “History of Farm Drainage” project, and it’s an honor and privi- lege to be a part of, has been an education of sorts, a history lesson. As I’ve gotten the opportunity to re- search and review the information gathered for the maga- zine and the book, it became very apparent to me that the expansion of our great country could not have been done without resolving the drainage challenges our forefathers and foremothers faced. The expansion of the country was an enormous political, intellectual and physical undertaking that help forge a resiliency that, in my opinion, is still part of our nation’s culture to this day.
