Where Learning Meets the Dirt
By ALLISON HACK, Executive Vice President, National LICA
Hands-on education has long been an important part of LICA, giving contractors and industry professionals opportunities to see equipment, construction methods and conservation practices at work in real-world conditions.
Recent events in Iowa and Indiana offered two different examples of how State Chapters are continuing that tradition. Iowa LICA celebrated the opening of a new Farm Classroom at its Conservation and Demonstration Farm, creating a permanent home for year-round education, while Indiana LICA brought contractors, educators, manufacturers and guests into the field for two days of live tile drainage installation and demonstrations.
Although the settings were different, both brought education closer to the work contractors perform every day.
